Hartwell Barn
A working barn on the edge of the village, rebuilt in 2016 and licensed for civil ceremonies. One wedding at a time, and the whole site is yours for two nights.

Why here
A room that does most of the work
Thirty-four metres of oak roof, stone walls and a glazed end wall that takes candlelight better than anything we could hang in it. Couples arrive with a folder of ideas and leave having crossed half of them out, which suits us. The barn is warm in January and cool in July, and it is the only wedding on the site that weekend.
Midweek — £6,400
Monday to Thursday, up to 90 guests, two nights of exclusive use. Set up the afternoon before with no rush and out by eleven the morning after.
Winter weekend — £7,900
November to March. Ceremony at two while the light is still in the end window, candles from four, and about a third off the summer rate.
Evening only — £3,200
From six in the evening, up to 200 standing. For couples marrying elsewhere in the day who want the barn, the bar and the band.
"We saw four barns in a fortnight and this was the only one where nobody handed us a brochure. Ruth walked us the length of the room with a tape measure and told us 130 would mean round tables. We booked that afternoon."

The spaces
Four spaces, one wedding at a time. The hire covers all of them for two nights, so there is no negotiating over which bits you get and nobody else arriving on the Sunday.

34m by 11m, licensed for civil ceremonies. 140 seated on rounds, 120 on long tables, 200 standing. Underfloor heating, a glazed end wall and a noise limiter set at 96 decibels.

Walled, stone-paved and south-facing. Holds the whole guest list for drinks and drains in an afternoon, which is why winter drinks still happen outside.
