How the day was planned

September is the date we recommend most and rarely have to sell. Rosa and Ade married under the oak at half two with the light already going gold, and the courtyard held the whole 95 for drinks without anyone drifting off to find somewhere to sit. We put the hay bales and blankets out at four, which is usually the moment the day settles.

The room, the tables and the food

Their families cooked. We took the kitchen through a supplier check six weeks out, agreed what could be prepped on site and what arrived ready, and put two of our staff on service so nobody in the family spent the day in an apron. It is more work for us and worth it when the food is the thing people remember.

How the evening went

They walked out into the meadow at half seven for twenty minutes with the photographer while we turned the room round for the band. That gap, between the last plate and the first song, is the one we protect hardest in every timeline we write.

What couples say afterwards

Written to us in the weeks after their weddings, and used here with their permission.

"Nobody upsold us anything. When we asked about chair covers Ruth said the chairs were fine and we should spend the money on the wine, which is the single best bit of advice we got all year."

"We had sixty people on one table on a Wednesday in May and it cost less than half a Saturday. The two nights were the thing though — the Tuesday evening, with everyone arriving, was our favourite part of the week."

"Our families cooked. Nadia put the kitchen through a supplier check six weeks out and then put two of her own staff on service, so my mother got to sit down and eat her own food."

"December, pouring rain, 140 people, and the room looked better than any summer wedding we have been to. We turned the heating on the night before and nobody wore a coat."
