Sofia & Danny
Saturday 12 December 2026. 140 guests. Ceremony in the Long Barn at two, dinner at five, dancing from half eight.
How the day was planned
Sofia and Danny took a December date knowing it would be dark by four. That turned out to be the point. We ran the ceremony in the Long Barn at two while there was still light through the end window, then reset the room in ninety minutes with the doors shut and the heaters on. Guests waited in the Granary bar, which is warm and holds sixty without feeling like a holding pen.
The room, the tables and the food
140 is our maximum seated, and it works when the plan is simple. They went with seven rounds rather than long tables, which buys back floor space for the band. Candles did most of the lighting; we added warm uplighters against the stone at dusk. The caterer plated from the kitchen at the courtyard end, so nothing crossed the dance floor.
How the evening went
Winter dates are about a third less than a summer Saturday and the barn is at its best under candlelight, which is the argument we make to every couple who asks whether December is a mistake. It rained all day. Nobody minded, because nobody had to go outside.
